The Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation (provides on-demand information analytics and expert support to the Government of the Russian Federationgathered the most authoritative experts in the field of legal regulation of data at the expert panel discussion to discuss international practice in legal regulation of data and the possibility of its application in the Russian Federation.

At this event, experts discussed the best foreign data regulation practices and the possibilities of their implementation.

Evgeniа Zusman, a partner of You & Partners, made a presentation on the topic “Legal framework of state marketplaces and digital platforms in Russia and abroad”. Evgenia drew attention to the key trends in the regulation of the sphere of digital platforms and marketplaces based on a study of foreign and Russian legislation. According to Evgenia:

- Most countries in the world lack specific regulation of digital platforms and marketplaces.

- Regulation of digital platforms poses a difficult task for the state to find a balance between respecting the interests of third parties and discretionary regulation.

- An integrated, ecosystem approach to legal regulation is becoming important: changes are considered in relation to all elements of the digital platform or the state marketplace.
